Funny how things come further around. I made videos describing my thinking on the push into e-commerce, and at the time there was significant pushback. Now, an idea that perhaps MSPs are waking up to. A key decision -- does one build their store on someone else's property (such as Pax8) or on their own land with their own e-commerce platform. I'd clearly argue for the second.

I hope MSPs are waking up to this idea! Per my column, it’s the part of Pax8’s marketplace that MSPs have the most concerns about. Building an e-commerce site on your own real estate definitely gives you more flexibility and autonomy, but it’s a lot more work too, so interesting to see where folks sort out on that.

Doesn't a lot of the decision depend upon how much of a "toll" the disty takes? In a low margin world, one cannot afford to take a 15% haircut, but like Rich says, running your own lemonade stand can take a lot of extra effort.
